Gamrie Osteopathy Clinic
The Gamrie Osteopathy Clinic is located at 114 Main Street, Gardenstown. It is the first and only osteopathic clinic in the area, providing complementary healthcare locally.
114 Main Street has a long history of healthcare in the village. Originally a GP's surgery, it has been a pharmacy run by Carol's great-uncle Sandy West, and the original pharmacy glass door is still in use today.
The clinic is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, and occasional Fridays. Consultations by appointment only (see contact page).
The clinic stocks a range of quality products at reasonable prices to help make life more comfortable: back support belts, microwaveable heat packs, lumbar supports for use in the car or at home, sports gels, insoles, ice packs, sports taping and bandages for injuries. Further specialist equipment or products can be ordered by arrangement.
Please note that the Gamrie Osteopathy Clinic is closed March 12-19. We reopen as normal on Tues 20 March.
Carol West BSc (Hons) Ost
Carol trained at the London School of Osteopathy and has held continuous registration with the General Osteopathic Council since 2003. As well as her clinical work, Carol is a college tutor, and an external examiner in osteopathic education, and was closely involved in the Master of Osteopathy (MOst) degree provision.
She practised in south London for seven years before relocating to her native Gardenstown in 2009 and opening the Gamrie Osteopathy Clinic in 2010.
Carol's main specialisms in Osteopathy are in the structural and visceral fields, and she has a particular interest in the treatment of sports injuries, sacro-iliac dysfunction and digestive problems, as well as helping women adapt to postural changes in pregnancy.
Carol's personal interests in posture, work ergonomics and hypermobility led her to take up Pilates many years ago. She is also a qualified Level 3 Matwork Body Control Pilates teacher.
Classes run throughout the year in Gardenstown. Maximum of 10 participants per general class, with smaller numbers in Beginners' classes. Next Beginners’ class (subject to min numbers) after Easter.
Introductory sessions prior to joining a class are available during opening hours at the clinic. If you have existing back problems, it is strongly recommended that you book in to the osteopathy clinic first to make sure Pilates is suitable for you. Also available at the clinic are specialised small classes in Pilates for Bone Health, suitable for those diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis.
